 “Wonders of the South” will take you to a breathless location in the far South of Brazil, the State of Rio Grande Do Sul. Massive mountains of basalt store Amethyst and Citrine geodes in its interior. Other treasures you will see are agates, amethyst flower, selenites and calcites.

A geologist and the tour host will guide and explain every detail of your trip, which starts with a lecture at the Rio Grande do Sul Federal University Museum of  Mineralogy and Petrology.

Geo Tour will take you to see and touch those amazing amethyst and citrine geodes in both their natural state as well as in huge warehouses.

The tour will feature visits to the EXPOSOL Gem, Jewellery and Mineral Show held in Soledade, RS. The largest producers in the country will astonish you with their wide variety of gems, mineral specimens and jewellery, and provide you with the best deals at this show.

Rio Grande do Sul is located in the south region of Brazil. It is one of the richest States of the country. Trip 2: "Gem Storm"

“Gem Storm” Trip Overview:              

8 days/7nights or 12 days/11nights

“Gem Storm” Tour takes place in the Southeast of Brazil, in the state of Minas Gerais, and has two stages, an 8 day tour or extended 12 day tour. The first stage or 8 day tour takes you to the coloured stone world. We’ll start at the Imperial Topaz and Euclase in Ouro Preto, a famous UNESCO world’s heritage site, and includes a lecture at the Federal Mining University Museum of  Mineralogy. Next, we will go to the Emerald mines in Itabira, then head North to Governador Valadares and Teófilo Otoni into the fields of tourmaline, aquamarine, chrysoberyl, alexandrite, blue Topaz, just to mention a few.

The extended 12 day tour continues to the amazing crystal mining area in Diamantina and Corinto. You’ll be surrounded by the clearest crystal clusters and points, Lemurians, Lasers, and Elestial Quartz...

Our knowledgeable guides will familiarize you with botany, birds and other wildlife. Learn many fascinating things about Brazil and its natural history on this educational small group tour.
